Frequently Asked Questions
What does Installation Address mean?
This refers to the physical location where the alarm system is installed and actively monitored. It’s important for ensuring accurate service and response.
What are Authorized Individuals?
These are people you designate to manage or respond to alarm-related concerns, such as handling emergency calls or receiving notifications on your behalf.
Do I need to fill out all 5 Authorized Individuals fields?
No, you don’t need to fill out all five fields. You can include as many authorized individuals as you’d like, up to a maximum of five.
What is the Password for?
The password is a security measure for identifying you or your authorized individuals when communicating with the monitoring team.
What does Zone Mapping mean?
Zone mapping greatly enhances the efficiency and accuracy of alarm monitoring by providing a clear and detailed layout of your property. Each zone corresponds to a specific area or sensor, allowing the monitoring company to pinpoint the exact location of triggered activity. For example, if an alarm is activated, the company can immediately identify whether it’s at the front door, a back window, or the garage.
What is Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3, etc.?
Zones are labels assigned to specific areas within your property, corresponding to sensors installed in those locations.
To identify the correct zone number, access your OSI Smart Alarm System Gen 2 panel and follow these steps:
1. Select the Connection Icon (located in the upper-right corner of the main screen).
2. Navigate to *Accessories, then select **Sensor*.
Each sensor will display:
- A *Zone Number*, which identifies the specific sensor.
- An *Image* showing the type of sensor, such as a motion sensor or contact sensor.
- A *Name* that describes the location of the sensor (e.g., "Front Door").
For example:
If you see Zone 1 next to a graphic of a contact sensor labeled "Front Door," you would fill out the form like this:
- *Zone 1 / Signal*: Contact Sensor
- *Description*: Front Door
Be sure to complete the zone mapping section of the form for all zones listed on your OSI Smart Alarm System screen to ensure proper monitoring.
What does Signal mean?
A signal refers to the type of sensor installed as part of your alarm system. You’ll need to select the correct sensor type for each area. The options include:
• Contact Sensor: Monitors doors and windows for opening or closing.
• Motion Sensor: Detects movement within a designated space.
• Urgent Sensor: Identifies critical events, such as smoke detector or Water Tank Leak etc.
These signals are sent to the monitoring service whenever a sensor is triggered, ensuring the appropriate response.
What is a Contact Sensor?
A contact sensor detects the opening or closing of doors or windows and sends a signal to alert the monitoring service when triggered.
What is a Motion Sensor?
A motion sensor detects movement within a designated area and alerts the system if unauthorized motion occurs.
What is an Urgent Sensor?
An urgent sensor is designed to identify critical triggers, smoke detector, water tank leak etc
What happens after I submit this form?
Once submitted, your details will be processed to ensure your monitoring service is properly set up. You will receive confirmation and any additional instructions if needed.
What if I change the locations of the sensors or add new ones?
If you change sensor locations or add new sensors, you’ll need to update the zone mapping on file and inform the monitoring team to ensure accurate coverage and response.
